Recreating the past for live events, TV and film

Historical traders’ markets

The explosion of re-enactment groups and eras over the past few years has spawned a growing mini-industry of craftsmen catering for re-enactors’ needs, from uniforms to weapons, pottery, glass wear and wooden goods to hand-made rope.

Most major re-enactments, particularly multi-period events, feature a market as an added bonus (as well as a service to the participants). EventPlan can arrange a historical market at selected events so long as the latter are likely to be of sufficient size and offer viable returns to these specialist traders. Whilst event visitors enjoy browsing through the stands, they are not normally quite so likely to buy as the re-enactors are.
