The Sheffield Fayre

Norfolk Heritage Park, Norfolk Park Road, Sheffield

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2003

Napoleonic redcoats on parade, bayonets and accoutrements shining in the bright sunshine. Consisting of members of the Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards (1815), 33rd Regiment of Foot and 68th (Durham) Regiment of Light Infantry, the troops formed a combined "marching company" throughout the weekend. Despite the fact that this was the first time all three units had drilled as one, they looked absolutely superb and manoeuvred with a precision that earned them much admiration. Apart from ongoing living history, the redcoats presented a display of drill and musket firing each day, as well as taking part in the spectacular "Infantry firepower through the ages" demonstration. On Sunday they were inspected by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Diane Leek.

See redcoats march again at the Sheffield Fayre 2004, Sunday 29 and Bank Holiday Monday 30 August!
