Re-enactors from hell!
Most re-enactors are never as bad as this dreadful duo, but the fact is that there are those who take recreating the past sufficiently seriously and those that do not.
How many historical gaffes can you spot in this picture? Check them against our list at the bottom of the page. Whilst this is of course a very an extreme example of all we hate, all these mistakes (and worse) have unfortunately been seen amongst less authentic re-enactors at shows. Please, if you are a participant at one of our events, never ever be like these two!

Re-enactor on left, allegedly a C15th man-at-arms.
In half kit; No hat; open neck; cigarette; cigarette pack tucked into jacket; beer can; carrier bag at feet; modern shoes, no weapons or personal kit.
Re-enactor on right, supposedly a C17th soldier.
Sunglasses; diet coke and crisps; in half kit; no coat (an offence in some civil war armies); bright white cotton shirt (most shirts were linen and rarely this white); mobile phone; hiking boots; plastic bag at feet, no weapons or personal kit.
Both
...are sitting on a modern bench. Even if perfectly kitted out, this would blow the whole impression.
At least they aren't eating ice creams, pushing buggies or worse!
Picture posed by Simon Flanagan and Howard Giles (who both quite enjoyed slobbing out for once!).
