Noon to 4pm

Living history - re-enactments and skirmishes- entertainments - fascinating historical crafts - and much more!

Over the above weekend, EventPlan staged a high-quality multi-period re-enactment at Cliveden, a major National Trust property. Around 200 performers presented a continuous programme of displays throughout both afternoons. This was the National Trust's first ever major multi-era event and regarded by their staff, performers and visitors alike as a great success. Normal admission prices applied, whilst National Trust members entered free of charge.

Displays included the arms, armour, weaponry and battle tactics of warriors and soldiers from the ancient Greeks to WWII;  a multi-era living history encampment; Romans and Britons; medieval knights, men-at-arms, ladies, camp followers and working forge; C17th musketeers and pikemen; Regency mounted skills; an American Civil War skirmish; armour, uniforms and firepower through the ages demonstration and much more. Non-military displays included everyday life through the ages, cooking and assisting a Victorian seamstress. Children's entertainments included Tudor puppet shows and dressing up in Victorian costume....and both adults and children hugely enjoyed "formation flying" and learning fighter tactics when taking part in our interactive Battle of Britain display! The event kept visitors busy all afternoon - indeed there was so much to see and do, some visitors came on both days!

The performers/groups were (by era);

Classical Greeks - The Hoplite Association; Romans and Britons - The Vicus and Colchester Roman Society; Medieval - The Knights Hospitaliers, Lion Rampant and Herbert Household; Tudor - Perrots Puppet Players; C17th - The English Civil War Society; C18th - New France & Old England; Napoleonic - 2nd Battalion, 95th Rifles and Andy Smerden riding Mack; American Civil War - The Southern Skirmish Association - Victorian - Hands on History and the Heilbron Commando; Edwardian - The Antarctic Adventurers; WWII: Hogarth's Heroes Croix de Lorraine and .916 Grenadier-Regiment. EventPlan warmly thanks all the performers for taking part.
