Explore and experience the history and technique of dueling with swords - on the old tennis courts with the Society for the Study of Swordsmanship

Drill and musket firing by members of the American Civil War Society

 

WWII music and song, performed by the Midnight Serenaders in the Centre in the Park’s Community Hall

12.30pm

Roman Arms & armour, presented by Legio VIII Augusta MGV

 

A guided tour of the C15th encampment, including a talk on the medieval treatment of wounds.

12.45pm

Early Medieval combat, with Ormsgard Dark Age Theatre and The Household

  Custer’s 7th – a talk about the regiment and their battles with Native Americans, in the 7th Cavalry re-enactors’  living history camp (adjacent to the cowboys).

American Civil war era baseball

 

Wild West life, at the Arizona Rangers’ camp (top of the grassy slope)

1.30pm

Soldiers, weapons and equipment of WWII, a “show and tell” by the Northern WWII Association

 

Singlestick fencing, a demonstration of this unusual sport popular from 1787 to 1923, presented by the Society for the Study of Swordsmanship, on the old tennis courts (top of grassy slope).

  Early medieval food and cooking, a talk in The Household’s camp

C15th armour, weaponry, archery and combat, presented by the The Clarence, Conyer, Neville and Savile Households, plus Buckingham's Retinue and the Knights Hospitalers

 

90 years on - The British army on the Somme, 1916 – a talk by the Manchester Regiment 1914-18, at their living history encampment

God’s soldiers - the Knights Hospitalers – a talk about their life and times, at their encampment.
