Recreating the past for live events, TV and film
Dockyard 800
1. The Show
A high quality multi-period historical show, staged on behalf of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, interpreting the history of the dockyard through the ages. Enjoy living history and displays at this very famous location . It's the first time this event has been held, and both the management and EventPlan hope to establish it as an annual attraction.
Absolutely. There will be a wide variety of displays and activities to enjoy.
Yes it is, but do try to come on Saturday as you might enjoy it so much that you'll want to come back on the Sunday! With the dockyard's permanent attractions fully open too, there's a huge variety of things to see and do - too much for just one day in fact!.
Is it photogenic?
Yes. Photography is restricted in one or two areas (for example, it is not allowed on board HMS Victory) but otherwise, click away!!!
The dockyard will be producing a free programme, so you'll know exactly what's happening, where and when!
Yes it is, please see the main event page for directions. Please note that parking is off-site, although there are numerous car parks to choose from.
3. Admission to the event
Take advantage of very special admission prices for this event! In fact, they are going to be such good value you'd be crazy to miss this event! Please revisit for confirmed details in due course.
4. Facilities
The dockyard is flat, so suitable for most disabled visitors. Some living history areas are however located on board ship so care should be taken when visiting them.
Plenty of catering, toilets and shops will be available.
Is there overnight camping?
We regret that there is no camping or overnight facilities on site, as this is a fully functional naval base. If you would like to camp in the area, please refer to the local Tourist Information Centre for details of the nearest camp sites.
Re-enactors and performers will be camping close by.
EventPlan will send full advance details to all participating groups for distribution to members.
We are re-enactors. Can we take part?
Participation is by invitation only but we do welcome applications from high quality, friendly groups wishing to take part. Groups need to be able to meet our Standard terms and conditions for participation and be relevant to the event's theme.
Traders
EventPlan invite quality historical traders/demonstrators to take part. Please read trading opportunities and then contact us if you would like to participate.
