The
Aldershot Tattoo 1934

A page from the lavishly illustrated official souvenir of the Tattoo, Aldershot, June 16 & 19 - 23rd 1934, depicting the Siege of Namur, 1695. Hundreds of troops in convincing costume re-enacted the siege in front of a large crowd, having already staged the show for the cameras in time for inclusion into the programme. Colour prints of paintings were also included. The tattoo also featured a combined Royal Horse Artillery and Brigade of Guards display, massed bands, cavalry display and "Rally of Empire" featuring troops from the Dominions.
Thanks to Ian Tindle for lending a copy of the programme.
