For the first time in over 1500 years, the sound of crowds cheering on teams of charioteers echoed across from Abbey Field the very ground close by where the Roman chariot racing hippodrome was recently discovered. The racing was staged by Horses Impossible, arranged by Snake in the Grass Limited and accompanied by a full day of living history and re-enactments organised by EventPlan.

See the chariots race again at the  Colchester Roman Festival on 4-5 October 2008!
