Some frequently asked questions

1. The Show

What's it all about then?

A high quality, modest scale multi-period historical show, staged on behalf of The National Trust, interpreting history through the ages.  Enjoy living history and displays in this very picturesque setting of Osterley Park's pleasure gardens and Great Meadow. It's the first time this event has been held, and both the National Trust and EventPlan hope to establish it as an annual attraction.

Is the event suitable for families and small children?

Absolutely. There will be a wide variety of displays and activities to enjoy.

Is the show the same each day?

Yes it is, but do try to come on Sunday as you might enjoy it so much that you'll want to come back on the bank holiday Monday!

Is it photogenic?

You bet. The displays are designed to look as good as possible and the setting is simply stunning.

Will there be a programme?

The National Trust will be producing a free programme.

2. Getting there

Is Osterley Park easy to find?

Yes it is, and unusually for a multi-era historical event, within easy reach of Central London. Please see the main event page for directions.

3. Admission to the event

Admission prices are very reasonable, with a large discount for National Trust members. National Trust members: Adult £3.00p, Child £2.00p.  Non-members: Adult £6.00p, Child £3.00p. Normal admission prices to the house apply (National Trust members free). Normal free admission applies to the rest of the estate grounds.  A small parking fee applies (please revisit in due course for the confirmed cost).

4. Facilities

Is the event disabled-friendly?

The ground is flat, with numerous paths, so suitable for most disabled visitors. Some living history areas are located within trees so care should be taken when visiting them.

What facilities are available?

Catering and toilets are available, ad the National trust shop will be open as usual.

Are picnics allowed?

Yes. But we also have catering available on site. Visitors are asked to take their litter home or place them in the bins provided, to help keep the park tidy (and safe for the small animals and birds that live here).

Is there overnight camping?

We regret that there is no visitor camping or caravan spaces, or overnight facilities. If you would like to camp in the area, please refer to the local Tourist Information Centre for details of the nearest camp sites.

Re-enactors and performers will be camping in period or modern tents.

5. Taking part

How will participating re-enactors find out what is happening?

EventPlan will send full advance details to all participating groups for distribution to members.

We are re-enactors. Can we take part?

Participation is by invitation only but we do welcome applications from high quality, friendly groups wishing to take part. Groups need to be able to meet our Standard terms and conditions for participation.

Traders

EventPlan invite quality historical traders/demonstrators to take part. Please read trading opportunities and then contact us  if you would like to participate.
