The company is directed by Howard Giles, probably the most experienced historical event organiser in the UK, being responsible for over 5,000 successful events over 35 years. He created and for 16 years directed English Heritage's extensive events programme, wrote its manual, and enjoys a thorough understanding of the principles of event management including safety issues, budgeting, marketing, performers and using the ground to best artistic effect. A brief history of re-enactment

Historical re-enactment as we know it today is a relatively recent development, only commencing in the UK during the late 1960s.  Despite this it has become hugely popular with audiences and participants alike, becoming a well-known visitor attraction, particularly at historic houses and castles. If you are interested in how and why living history and re-enactment has become so popular in recent years, read our history of re-enactment. Or click for other concise historical articles including the causes and course of the English Civil War,  the American Civil War, and The Battle of Orgreave 1984.
