Stop press!
EventPlan is delighted to be helping to raise funds for Help for Heroes. On 24-25 July we'll be staging Salute for Heroes at Glemham Hall, Suffolk, a fantastic weekend of military displays and multi-era re-enactments with all profits donated to the charity. Not to be missed! Please revisit for updated details, or contact us if you would like to participate as re-enactors, to trade or to exhibit.
On Tuesday 9th February EventPlan assisted the Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Family Association (SSAFA) at their 125th anniversary appeal press launch and photo shoot, at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. As requested we arranged and co-ordinated 40 top quality participants representing 1880s, Boer War, WWI, WWII and National Service era military and their dependants, who were joined by model Nell McAndrew and Chelsea Pensioners for a successful shoot with a larger than anticipated turnout from the press. Watch out for a report in a forthcoming issue of Skirmish magazine. SSAFA has played a vital role in assisting servicemen and their families in war and in peace since its formation in 1885, and continues to do so - please donate now to this extremely worthy organisation.

A brief history of re-enactment
Historical re-enactment as we know it today is a relatively recent development, only commencing in the UK during the late 1960s. Despite this it has become hugely popular with audiences and participants alike, becoming a well-known visitor attraction, particularly at historic houses and castles. If you are interested in how and why living history and re-enactment has become so popular in recent years, read our history of re-enactment. Or click for other concise historical articles including the causes and course of the English Civil War, the American Civil War, and The Battle of Orgreave 1984.
