High Woods Country Park
Colchester, Essex
Free admission!
Living history - re-enactments - battles - fascinating historical crafts - and much more!
EventPlan is hoping to stage a modest yet high-quality multi-period re-enactment at picturesque High Woods Country Park, rural yet adjacent to Colchester town centre.
Following the sudden withdrawal of funding opportunities via by the Colchester Festival due to unexpected internal difficulties within their committee (completely beyond our control), EventPlan and key performers have decided that rather than cancel, we shall seek to raise sufficient funding through a local appeal to pay for basic amenities, services and expenses. Assuming this can be raised, EventPlan and key performing groups will offer their services free of charge so that the people of Colchester can still enjoy an excellent historical event, despite the Colchester Festival committee's recent change of heart. All donations and offers of volunteer assistance are thus very welcome.
This event follows on from last year's successful Invasion 2003. Admission will be free (although donations on the day will be welcome) to maximise our social inclusion objectives by making it possible for all town residents - especially families - to enjoy, celebrate and explore their history.
High Woods Country Park consists of over 300 acres of attractive woodland and meadows, with a lake, extensive network of paths and a modern visitor centre. The combination of a photogenic natural setting and long history of human use makes the park an ideal setting for this ambitious multi-era event.

Re-enactment groups and other performers interested in taking part are invited to contact us for further details. They are invited to click the link for our Standard terms and conditions for participation, 2004.
Quality historical traders are invited to contact Anne Laverick of the Original Re-enactors' Market on 01977 557485, who will book and co-ordinate all historical traders once the event is confirmed. Preference will be given to traders who utilise period tents or otherwise attractively present stands.
Our historical traders will be required to pay a modest pitch fee (exact amount to be confirmed).
