C18th living history, displays and entertainments to mark the 300th anniversary of the founding of Clumber's park.

A hugely enjoyable weekend of entertainments (even despite rain on Sunday) alongside Clumber Park's picturesque lake, staged on behalf of the National Trust.  Visitors enjoyed music and song, fashion talks (and a chance to dress up in the latest C18th creations), met finely dressed gentry and watched precision displays of drill, musket and cannon firing by superbly smart soldiers seeking to recruit them into King George's army. You could decide who to vote for in a distinctly dodgy (but hilarious) election husting, see displays of duelling with swords (and maybe even help out a bit!), marvel as the famous Battle of Blenheim was recreated with flowers and other unusual props, and laugh, cheer and shout to Mr Punch versus George Washington. Visitors strolled through the beautiful grounds and met an C18th game keeper and the gardener - but were careful, as dastardly highwaymen were lurking in the grounds, hiding from the redcoats but ready to pounce on the unsuspecting!
