Recreating the past for live events, TV and film

Children's parties

Dare to be different! There can be more to life than the usual jellies, magician and disco!

Make your child's party stand out and even more memorable!

History has so much more to offer!

Whether you prefer fighting knights, colourful historical characters, entertainers or a full-blown historical pageant, we can assist. Like the idea of a shining medieval knight on horseback, or fighting knights (left), or a redcoat guard of honour - or perhaps even Roman gladiatorial combat? EventPlan can arrange it!

After one of our recent medieval themed parties, for a 7 year old and his friends, a delighted client wrote: "It truly was the most exciting and colourful birthday I think he's ever had. The knights were fantastic, wonderful with the boys and made the afternoon a really memorable and historically interesting event....all the parents have told me that once the boys got home, swords, shields and knights costumes were unearthed from dressing up boxes and battle commenced for the entire weekend!"

Everyone is different and so our performers and displays are tailored to your particular requirements. For simple low cost displays and activities we discuss the sort of thing you'd like, source the appropriate performers and arrange for them to appear at your party at an agreed time and place -  then it's over to you, but for more ambitious displays we can also be present if required to set up the logistics and co-ordinate on the show, so all you have to do is watch the children enjoy themselves!

In addition to displays the children can watch and be thrilled by, these are some of the activities that they can take part in (always hugely popular):

bullet

Medieval "squire training", dressing up in armour and games

bullet

Music & dance through the ages

bullet Pirates, cowboys, Roman gladiators and other characters

bullet

Storytelling and "softer" activities (probably more appropriate for for girls, as the boys love shiny knights and the like)

bullet

Learning to be soldiers through the ages, for example, marching about with "muskets" and "pikes"

bullet

Extras such as taking part in (safe) "medieval combat" with foam swords and shields and dressing up in medieval outfits.

Perhaps the most enjoyable package of activities is a display to watch, followed by a chance to "have a go".

We can even arrange for appropriate period costume (and, of course,  period wedding dresses) to be made so everyone can enter into the spirit of the occasion.

And of course, if you don't want to specifically arrange a private entertainment at your party, our major weekend events can brilliantly entertain children, so why check out our 2007 programme?

What does it cost?

It all depends on what, where and when, but we always strive to offer the best value for money. To take our most popular request as an example: 2 full hours (about right for most children's attention spans) with a couple of fighting knights in armour, games and squire-training usually works out between £225 and £350 plus our booking fee (please see below). Cost is generally governed by the distance the performers have to travel, and thus their time expended. You'd probably need a village hall or pleasant dry weather outdoors, as fighting knights and most domestic houses (or wet/slippery grass) tend not to mix well!

The kids love it and to date, parents have always been very pleased. If there are girls present we can often add (for example) a medieval lady with appropriate activities for a nominal sum if so desired.

Booking is subject to performers' availability, and can be limited in the summer (as the performers are often appearing at major events at this time of year)...but try us anyway as we can often help out at quite short notice.

We usually charge a booking fee of  £75 plus VAT (total £88.12p),  with the performers' fee being payable direct and on the day (no VAT usually). Payment of the fee (which we'd invoice you for) would secure the booking.

The cost of each party varies according to services supplied.
